Stuff I've Bought That I Hate - BlowPro

Welcome to another edition of Stuff I've bought That I Hate.  Unfortunately, the Blow Pro Ready Set Blow hair cream that I told you about here hasn't worked out.

I've used this product about five times now and it didn't cut down on my styling time at all.  In fact, it's made it longer and more difficult.  The product says it adds volume and reduces frizz, but I found that yes, it added volume in that it made my hair puff out into an afro, but it DID NOT reduce frizz.  It made my hair frizzier than I've ever seen it.  When I finally had my hair dry, I had to attack it with my straightener in very tiny sections to get rid of all the frizz.  My normal drying and straightening time went from about a half hour to over 45 minutes.  I don't have that kind of time to spend on my hair and don't get me started on how bad my arms hurt afterwards.  What a waste of money!

One thing I use that actually does decrease drying time is the Twisty Towel.

I think I bought this at either TJ Maxx or Target. I'm not sure which one.  It was only $10 for a package of two.  It's made of 100% cotton and you simply wrap it around your head like a turban after showering and it absorbs the water from your hair.  I was surprised at how much water it actually absorbs.  I leave it on while I put on my lady lotions, remove, then blow dry my hair.

To recap: BlowPro needs to go back and practice its skills (I hear carrots are good for that), but the Twisty Towel will suck your hair dry.

I've been using Redken Gelatine and really like it for the volume minus the frizz. I also bought a new hair dryer after using my sister's over Christmas and realized that that was a huge part of my problem. My hair dryer blew a weak stream of super hot air, while hers did a wider span of hot but not super hot air. I've since switched and it's amazing how fast I can dry my hair now.

I have always wondered about those towels!

I bought the blow products recently and agree that they, well, blow. The hairspray is just as bad. Sigh.

Glad you warned me about that product, I would have probably bought it at some point. What a waste. I love the twisty towels too.

Dammit, I was really hoping it would live up to it's name. Sorry your hair got blue balls.

I wondered if those twisty towel things really work... next time I'm snagging one. My hair is way too long to get fried by the blow dryer as long as it does everyday.

BlowPro is a bizarre name. Or I'm a pervert. Or both. I love those towel head things. They look really sexy on. NOT.

favorite recap to date. My stylist tried some of that "cut your bowdry time in half" bs on me last time and I swear it took longer. Stupid gimmicks.

Okay I work at a hair salon so I'm going to have to recommend a product for you! The Bumble amd bumble Straight Blow Dry cream is awesome. They also just came out with the at-home smoothing treatment. I did it and my hair is super smooth and takes 2 seconds to blow dry!

Bummer. I find that most de-frizzers are a total waste of money. (Except for keratin treatment and related smoothers that have finally worked well for me)

It's one thing to buy something and it not work, but to do the exact opposite really sucks.

I have the hair towel thing but mine is a "Turbie Twist" from CVS. I stared at it in CVS wanting to buy it for like a year and finally did. Best purchase ever.
I use the Garnier Fructis "smoothing milk" to put in my wet hair, which I really like, so I got their blow dry aid too (analogous to your product). It did make my hair blow dry faster than usual but it was very strange and chemical seeming and didn't give my hair a good texture after so I stopped using it.

hahaha im laughing at the name of the product...I STILL have not found a volumizing product that doesn't make my hair greasy or extend the dry time...if you find one HOLLLLERRR

Carrots, eh? Thats one long, slender fella!

I tend to dislike most hair products. But I am loving bumble & bumble "straight" (or something like that, it;s in a gray bottle and I am too lazy to go look at it right now). Super amazing at reducing frizz. In fact, I have no need for a flat iron after.

Gotta get a twisty towel!

Oops, Missy beat me to it! It's really expensive but worth it cuz you only need a dab.
